MOME 105: Type in Motion
For this assignment, I animated lyrics from a 2022 Orville Peck song, focusing on visually translating the text through motion. Working within constraints such as keyframe-based animation in Adobe After Effects, I incorporated masks, track mattes, and shape layers. The typography needed to be central, legible, and demonstrate balance, rhythm, and hierarchy.
Through this project, I gained practical experience in integrating typography and motion design, refining my ability to sync visuals with audio, and applying key motion design principles like balance and rhythm. I also enhanced my technical skills by working with masks, track mattes, and animating typography. This project helped me explore how type can become a dynamic and emotive element in storytelling, especially when paired with meaningful audio.

Started with only a skeleton, style frames and a jam stuck in my head!

Firefly Integration
In this project, I embraced Adobe's new AI engine, Firefly, to enhance the creative process. Using Firefly, I generated mulitple images, making sure tha the composition remained king. These images were then refined in Photoshop and incorporated into my motion design in After Effects. This integration of AI allowed me to experiment with new design techniques, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in a short timeframe.
I’m constantly seeking innovative ways to use emerging technologies to streamline production and unlock fresh creative directions. Exploring AI tools like Firefly helps me stay on the cutting edge of design, blending efficiency with creativity!
